Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in Barrow County, GA is seeking a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II to support rehabilitation efforts for offenders on probation or in custody. The role involves interviewing offenders, evaluating progress, and coordinating treatment and education stipulations.

Under general supervision, you will prepare reports, testify in court, and supervise community-based supervision.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a related field and two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting.
Or four years of direct case management experience working with offenders and their families.
Or two years of experience at the lower-level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain State of Georgia POST certification within the first six months.

Responsibilities

Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and adherence to terms.
Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance.
Administer drug and alcohol tests to verify compliance with treatment programs.
Prepare and maintain case folders for assigned inmates or offenders.
Discuss factors like substance abuse and anger management in rehabilitation planning.
Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations; testify regarding offenders' backgrounds.
Inform offenders of conditional release requirements and stipulations.
Write progress reports and evaluations; arrange for necessary treatment services.
Supervise community-based sentence supervision and conduct field visits.
