Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a professional health information coder to code and abstract ICD-10-CM diagnosis and procedure data.

You will verify codes with the 3M Encoder and CPT-4 guidelines, maintaining high data quality and supporting the department's performance improvement initiatives. The role requires knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and the ability to work with EPIC systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year demonstrated ICD-10-CM inpatient/outpatient coding experience in acute care.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Willingness to obtain AHIMA/AAPC credentials within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts diagnosis and procedure information from patient records per coding conventions.
• Utilizes the 3M Encoder to verify and assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-PCS and CPT-4 codes.
• Maintains 95% data quality coding accuracy rate per department reviews.
• Maintains knowledge of prospective payment systems related to coding.
• Participates in department meetings, training sessions and workshops.
