Job summary

The Housing Authority of the City of Aurora (AHA) seeks a Housing Inspector to perform inspections of federally subsidized units, ensuring compliance with HUD and Fair Housing requirements and AHA policies. You will communicate findings to landlords, prepare inspection reports, and travel between multiple properties across Colorado.

Responsibilities include annual/biennial inspections, documentation, and collaborating with Assisted Housing and Compliance Managers.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of HUD regulations.
• Solid knowledge of Fair Housing Laws.
• Solid knowledge of Housing Authority Policies and Procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Valid Colorado driver license and ability to travel between properties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of units at lease execution and on annual/biennial cycles to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Complete required documentation of inspections in accordance with established guidelines.
• Communicate failed items to landlords and advise on guidelines for correction.
• Contact clients and landlords regarding inspection issues.
• Responsible for timely completion of assigned inspections.
• Prepare reports as requested by the Director of Assisted Housing and Compliance Managers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on Section 8 program regulations and investigate program fraud.
• Provide coverage for Housing Specialists as needed.
