Job summary

Altus Hospice in Houston seeks a Full Time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, supervise and retain volunteers, ensuring compliance with regulations. The role partners with the hospice team to support patient and family needs.

You will build community connections, manage volunteer schedules, track hours and maintain compassionate, high‑quality service. Schedule: Mon–Fri 8am–4:30pm, with some evenings and weekends, and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Volunteer Coordinator in a health care setting preferred.
• Compassionate, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
• Computer proficient with typing and EMR background.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, interview, screen, and coordinate patient volunteers.
• Establish volunteer needs with patient and family/caregiver and hospice team.
• Arrange volunteers to support patient and family in care plan.
• Supervise volunteers and evaluate performance annually.
• Develop and oversee an active volunteer network for direct and indirect care.
• Monitor volunteer time logs and patient documentation for accuracy.
