Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a cognitive impairment classroom. This contract assignment runs from ASAP through early June 2027, with a consistent 37.5-hour work week.

The ideal candidate will hold an active Michigan teaching license, bring experience with IEP goals, and collaborate closely with families and school staff to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Current Special Education Teacher certification in Michigan (active MI teaching license required).
• At least one year of experience teaching in a special education setting preferred.
• Ability to adapt lessons and materials for students with cognitive impairments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored instruction to meet the individualized education plans (IEPs) of high school students in a cognitive impairment classroom.
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction based on needs and performance.
• Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare required reports, and participate in IEP meetings.
• Create a supportive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and growth.
