Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a Cognitive Impairment classroom in a high school setting. This contract position starts as soon as possible and runs through June 10, 2027, offering a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

You will deliver individualized instruction, collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement IEPs, and maintain progress documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan teaching license in Special Education (screenshot required).
• Experience teaching or assisting students with cognitive impairments.
• Understanding of IEP processes, progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction.
• Excellent communication with students, parents, and educational teams.
• Commitment to a supportive and inclusive environment.
• Strong organizational skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction to high school students with cognitive impairments, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and support staff to implement IEPs and related educational goals.
• Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, attendance, and behavioral data.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with families and guardians to share updates and address concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
