Job summary

Sacred Heart Community Service in San José, CA seeks a Development Manager to lead fundraising and communications and to manage grant operations. The role advances SHCS’s mission by cultivating donors, coordinating grants, and guiding a Grant Writer and Development Associate.

The position emphasizes anti-poverty work, policy impact, and community engagement, requiring excellent writing, strategy, and nonprofit leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit funds development.
• Four+ years as nonprofit grant writer or grants manager.
• Superior ability to write for diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with CRM databases such as Salesforce.
• Experience with software including Google Suite, Campaign Monitor or equivalent, Canva or equivalent, Squarespace or equivalent, Microsoft Office.
• Occasional evening and weekend work required, including major holidays.
• Must complete a DMV and a background check, and qualify for SHCS driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Leads grant solicitation and renewals with goals and timelines.
• Direct grant administration and reporting with stakeholders.
• Develops policies to improve grant processes and trains staff.
• Manages Grant Writer, interns, and volunteers.
• Supports annual giving, direct mail, online appeals, and donor stewardship.
• Supports marketing campaigns for major events and campaigns.
