The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Firearms Background Specialist 2 (Legal Assistant 2). This role analyzes records to determine eligibility for firearm purchases or licenses and supports state laws.

You will contribute to public safety by applying careful judgment in a governmental framework. Responsibilities include reviewing records, researching applicants, and updating the PICS system with accurate information, while staying current on legal requirements and

Competenze

One year as a Legal Assistant 1 or equivalent Federal Government job title; or
Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Review applicant information and verify identities to determine approval or disapproval of firearm purchases or licenses.
Gather details from criminal histories, court documents, and agencies to interpret information in accordance with laws.
Enter and verify mental health, drug use, and criminal record information in the PICS database.
Stay informed of changes to laws, regulations, and operational policies that affect background check procedures.
Process and record required information in a timely manner in accordance with unit procedures.
Assist supervisors by helping train new operators and answering work-related questions.
