The position requires an associate degree or 48 semester hours (or CDA) and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Starting date is immediate, with part-time temporary schedule and $19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or CDA preferred.
• Willingness to complete early childhood education coursework.
• Knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards, preferred.
• Must be able to physically interact with children, including bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, lifting, climbing and walking.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to sudden changes.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Evidence of good mental and physical health.
• Dependable with good work attendance record.
• Skills pertinent to positive human relationships and ability to work effectively with instructional staff, students, parents, administration and the community.

Responsibilities

• Work with children individually or in small groups under teacher direction.
• Assist with miscellaneous duties around classrooms (bulletin boards, materials, equipment, cleaning, snacks, duplicating materials).
• Assist children in arts and crafts activities.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and adapt to physical demands of position.
• Assist during transitions in/out of ECSE classroom.
• Assist teacher with routine reporting of student information.
• Assist in helping students put on outer apparel.
• Assist in positioning and bracing of students.
• Help with field trips, drills, and unusual situations.
• Observe and record behavior and assist in applying teacher techniques.
• Assist students with toileting and self-care activities such as washing and brushing teeth.
• Assist with lifting students.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher or supervisor.

Education

Completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours

Associate's Degree or CDA preferred
