Job summary

Hope Residential Academy in Melrose Park is hiring a Direct Support Professional (Habilitation Specialist) to support residents with multiple disabilities aged 5-21. You will work as part of a clinical, educational, and therapeutic team to promote daily living skills and independence.

You will supervise daily routines, assist with meals, hygiene, and mobility, and help implement individualized plans. The role requires weekend work and overtime as needed, with paid training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Valid IL Driver’s License & ability to qualify as a DCFS driver.
• Successful background clearance, physical, agility test, and drug/alcohol screening.
• Lift, push, pull and/or carry 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl and run.
• Ability to work weekends and mandatory overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, program implementation and documentation surrounding the daily living needs and routines for assigned children.
• Assist children with activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, feeding, toileting and personal hygiene needs.
• Engage children in activities that support the goals of their Individual Support Plan and ensure they achieve maximum levels of independence.
• Maintain a valid IL driver's license and provide DCFS approved transportation services for medical appointments and field trips.
• Support residential operations through mandatory overtime shifts as needed.
