Job summary

PROJECT NEW GENERATION LLC seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, individualized care in group homes, assisted living, or home settings. You will promote independence, safety, and well-being while working with a passionate team.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, monitoring health, preparing meals, administering medications, and supporting memory care residents; strong HIPAA compliance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in group homes or long-term care settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of vital signs, medication administration, and CPR/first aid.
  • Experience with developmental disabilities or dementia is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate assistive devices safely.
  • Strong communication with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Monitor health, record vital signs, and report changes promptly.
  • Prepare meals per care plans and keep dining areas clean.
  • Administer medications per protocol and document accurately.
  • Support memory care residents with specialized activities.
  • Keep a safe, clean environment and assist with light housekeeping.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and families to update care plans.

Duties
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Prepare nutritious meals aligned with individual care plans and dietary restrictions; ensure cleanliness of the dining area and kitchen.
  • Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document medication administration meticulously to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia by implementing specialized care strategies and engaging them in meaningful activities.
  • Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and adherence to safety procedures; assist with light housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop and update personalized care plans that meet each resident’s unique needs.
Requirements
  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid.
  • Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or hospice needs is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts when necessary.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work with residents, families, healthcare teams, and community resources.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect resident privacy and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends or overnight hours as required for 24/7 care environments.
