Job summary

Chimes Metro, Inc. in Newark, NJ seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to help individuals with intellectual and behavioral challenges live their fullest lives.

You will provide direct support, assist with daily activities, and implement individualized care plans across day program, residential, and floater roles. Responsibilities include personal care, medication administration, safety and documentation, community engagement, and collaboration with healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; human services coursework preferred.
• Certifications: Must obtain and maintain active certifications in CMT, CPR/First Aid, and Mandt.
• Experience: Prior disability-support experience preferred but not required; person-centered care essential.
• Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; ability to follow care plans.
• Physical: Lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds; valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to individuals to ensure safety, engagement, and well-being.
• Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation.
• Implement and follow individualized care plans; support goals and skill development.
• Administer medications accurately and per agency policies and regulations.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow health and safety protocols.
• Maintain documentation of daily activities, progress, incidents, and reports.
• Foster community integration and participation in activities and events.
• Communicate openly with supervisors, team members, and external providers.
• Attend required training and staff meetings; work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays.
