Job summary

ShareWell, Cayton Children’s Museum’s nonprofit parent platform, seeks a Chief Operating Officer to lead day-to-day operations, staff management, and financial/operational reporting from Santa Monica. The role centers Cayton’s growth and expands ShareWell’s shared-services for partner cultural organizations.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of progressive operations leadership in a museum, cultural institution, or similar nonprofit.
• Experience managing multi-department staff, budgets, and earned-revenue operations.
• Strong financial judgment across budgeting and nonprofit accounting.
• California employment-practices experience; performance management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA/MPA or nonprofit-management degree preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; commitment to children, families, learning, and community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations across ShareWell with Cayton at the center.
• Lead staff management, finance, and monthly/quarterly reporting.
• Direct earned revenue streams and budgeting; ensure strong internal controls.
• Provide executive leadership alongside CEO and CAO; report to the Board as needed.
• Guide Cayton Museum operations, facilities, safety, and guest experience.
