Job summary

Sampson County Parks & Recreation is seeking an energetic, organized Recreation Coordinator to plan and deliver programs, youth athletics, events, and community activities for residents of all ages.

The role involves coordinating logistics, recruiting volunteers, training staff, and partnering with schools and community groups to ensure safe, fun, and inclusive experiences. A NC driver's license and relevant qualifications are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina Driver's License (required).
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field (preferred).
• Experience in recreation, athletics, parks and recreation, or related area (preferred).
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience coordinating youth sports, community programs, volunteers, special events, marketing, or social media (highly desirable).
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification and CPRP certification, or ability to obtain them (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Creating and evaluating a variety of recreation programs and events.
• Coordinating program logistics—from registration and team organization to scheduling games and equipment.
• Supporting program personnel by recruiting volunteers and training staff.
• Working closely with maintenance staff to ensure parks and facilities are equipped for safe use.
