Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections seeks two full-time Community Corrections Officer 2 (CCO2) positions in Mount Vernon, WA. Located at the Mount Vernon Field Office, this role may involve being in-training at the CCO1 level with potential promotion to CCO2.

Duties center on supervising individuals under community supervision and collaborating with stakeholders. Shifts are 0800-1700, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Must have a combination of education and/or experience in corrections, counseling, social services, or law enforcement.
• Ability to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm.
• Valid vehicle operator's license in Washington state.
• Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise criminal supervised individuals in the community under agency policy and timeframes.
• Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests.
• Complete intake and administer risk, needs, and substance abuse assessments.
• Manage electronic and hardcopy files and reports.
• Engage with supervised individuals using Motivational Interviewing and other interventions.
• Present documentation and recommendations to courts/hearings; maintain chain of custody for evidence.
