Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
Must meet highly qualified status as determined by Alabama State Department of Education.
Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

Upholds school rules, regulations, and board policies.
Participates in the operation of the school and system through meetings, conferences, and committee work.
Abides by the Code of Ethics for teachers.
Follows approved curriculum and textbooks.
Fosters citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
Reports for duty on time and stays after school as required.
Instructs assigned classes at designated times.
Maintains a conducive classroom environment.
Maintains discipline in the classroom and school environment.
Prepares for classes with written evidence of preparation upon request.
Maintains accurate student records as required by policy and law.
Evaluates student progress per established procedures.
Seeks assistance from specialists and makes referrals when appropriate.
Protects students and property; ensures safety.
Makes yourself available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
Collaborates with staff on activities, goals, and methods.
Assists in selecting instructional materials.
Participates in extracurricular activities as agreed.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
Maintains professional relationships with parents and the community.
Promotes good public relations for the school and district.
Maintains and improves professional competence.
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
