Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Compliance and Administration, Bureau of Finance, is seeking a Budget Analyst 3 based in Des Moines, IA. This role develops and monitors annual budgets and supports leadership with financial oversight across programs.

Responsibilities include preparing annual budgets, monthly projections, and federal financial reports, as well as conducting financial impact analyses to inform legislative actions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration, with professional budget analysis experience.
• Three years of professional level budget analysis or fiscal management experience is required.
• A master’s degree in business administration or public administration may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor annual budgets and provide financial oversight for assigned programs.
• Prepare and submit annual budgets and monthly projections, and federal financial reports.
• Conduct financial impact analyses and prepare fiscal notes detailing proposed actions.
