Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is seeking a dedicated Behavior Support Specialist to work with students with intensive behavioral needs within in-district classrooms or standalone schools across SESI's network.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and a multidisciplinary team to implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) and CASE framework. Requirements include a high school diploma (bachelor's preferred), demonstrated resilience, flexibility, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Experience implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs.
• Emotional consistency and resilience to handle stressful situations.
• Flexibility and willingness to jump in and support where needed to ensure safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school staff, teachers, and leaders to support students with intensive behavioral needs.
• Provide monitoring and support throughout the school site (classrooms, transition areas).
• Support creation and implementation of behavior support plans.
• Record, track, and document behavioral incidents and progress toward goals.
• Utilize positive behavioral intervention and support strategies and school site incentive programs.
• Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical intervention if necessary.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment encouraging social/behavioral skill development.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop differentiated support for students with more intensive needs.
• Participate in debriefing with staff after challenging behavior/crisis situations.
• Facilitate communication with parents.
