Job summary

GSK plc is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to deliver practical AI/ML solutions aligned with R&D and business priorities. You will partner with scientists, product teams, and domain experts to design, build, and deploy models and AI-powered tools that accelerate drug discovery and improve decision making.

The role is hands-on and consultative, involving prototyping, architecting model integrations, and transferring knowledge so partner teams can operate independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in software/ML engineering.
• 2+ years of professional experience developing and deploying ML models (with a Bachelor's); 2+ years with a Master’s or PhD.
• Expertise in Python and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, scikit-learn, pandas, numpy).
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong ML fundamentals and ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in healthcare, pharma, or biological domains.

Responsibilities

• Provide advisory guidance on AI/ML use cases, feasibility, model selection, and deployment options.
• Co-design prototypes and PoCs with product and domain teams to validate ideas quickly.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions with clear success criteria.
• Build, train, evaluate, and iterate on ML models for real-world problems including NLP/LLM and vision.
• Package trained models into production-ready services (APIs, containerized deployments).
• Develop reusable patterns and pipelines for common ML tasks.
• Embed privacy, ethics, and regulatory considerations into engagements.
• Run workshops and training sessions to raise AI literacy.
• Embed within business units for time-limited engagements to accelerate delivery.
