Job summary

Harlem Children’s Zone is seeking a Program Coordinator to support its After-School Programs in New York. The role emphasizes operational leadership, curriculum implementation, and cross-site collaboration to deliver high-quality youth programming.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (preferred) and 2+ years of youth-program experience, with strong organizational and communication skills to manage staff and partner relationships, ensuring a safe, engaging environment for students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Youth Development, Human Services, Social Work, Recreation, Nonprofit Management, or related field
• 2+ years of experience working directly with youth in after-school or related settings
• Experience coordinating programs, activities, events, or services supporting youth development and participant engagement
• Experience supervising, coaching, or supporting staff, interns, volunteers, or program participants

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations of the after-school program ensuring a safe, engaging, high-quality experience
• Supervise, coach, and develop frontline staff with ongoing feedback and training
• Monitor attendance, participation, and engagement; implement retention strategies
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community partners
• Assist in curriculum development and implementation aligned with goals and participant needs
• Use data and program metrics to monitor performance and inform improvements
• Coordinate program events, meetings, and activities across sites
• Ensure compliance with HCZ policies, funder requirements, and safety standards
• Collaborate with site leadership and cross-functional teams to improve program quality
• Prepare reports and maintain records; perform other duties as assigned
