Job summary

Laurel Ridge Community College in Frederick, VA seeks an Academic Advisor within the Office of Student Support Programs to provide holistic guidance to a caseload of students including Great Expectations, international and F1 students. The advisor assesses readiness for college-level English and math and collaborates with faculty to support enrollment and progression.

The role reports to the Director of Student Support Programs and involves coordinating with Disability Services and College

Qualifications

• Proven subject matter knowledge, evidenced by training, experience, and/or credentials.
• Proven academic excellence and work record of professionalism in providing customer service.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, use critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Student Information System software, and/or Learning Management software.

Responsibilities

• Advise a caseload of students and provide holistic academic guidance.
• Assess readiness and course placement for college English and mathematics.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop supports and recommendations for students.
• Develop, implement, and conduct evaluations of programs in support of student enrollment services and financial aid.
