Job summary

LEARN Academy in Montebello, CA, seeks a Behavior Interventionist to support students with special needs through ABA-based teaching in a FACSS classroom. You’ll help develop academic, daily living, social-emotional, and self-help skills.

Requirements include a high school diploma (college degree preferred), 1–2 years’ experience with moderate to severe disabilities, and collaboration with staff. Entry pay starts at $20/hour, with benefits and a 10-month schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience with children with moderate to severe disabilities in a special needs educational setting.
• Experience with toileting.
• Ability to collaborate and receive feedback and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining a professional and clinical perspective.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with moderate to severe special needs in a FACSS classroom.
• Using ABA therapy to provide direct instructional support to individuals and/or groups.
• Provide structured support in social-emotional, adaptive behavior, social-skill, and life skill development, including toileting.
• Collect data regarding student progress toward goals as directed by the teaching and clinical team.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by certified staff and provide opportunities to practice.
• Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of certified staff.
• Implement district-approved de-escalation techniques and safe physical restraint; training provided.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by administration and staff.
