Job summary

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) seeks a Program Officer, Lending & Underwriting in its Illinois office. You will originate, underwrite, structure, and close loans advancing community development opportunities in Illinois.

You’ll lead financial analysis, credit memos, and borrower education while partnering with national teams to ensure timely closings and strong portfolio performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in commercial real estate lending or related field.
• Experience structuring and underwriting complex transactions.
• Strong financial analysis of statements, budgets, cash flows and pro formas.
• Knowledge of community development finance tools and tax credit programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Illinois-based loan transactions and structure financing solutions.
• Support business development to maintain a strong lending pipeline in Illinois.
• Conduct due diligence, financial analysis, and risk assessments on deals.
• Prepare credit memoranda and underwriting recommendations for review.
• Present loan opportunities to credit committees and address questions on terms and risk.
• Coordinate with national lending and legal teams to close loans timely.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to design and implement lending initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance to nonprofit/community partners for project execution.
