Job summary

Sorenson Impact Institute in Salt Lake City seeks an Associate to join its Impact Investing team. This role combines investment management with educational leadership as you mentor student interns while managing the full lifecycle of early‑stage deals (pre‑seed–Series A).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2+ years experience in venture capital, private equity, investment management, or relevant non-finance fields.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated potential to perform essential functions outlined in the position description.
• Interest and ability to teach and explain venture capital and impact investing topics to students new to the field.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train rotating cohorts of student interns through underwriting and full-cycle due diligence for early-stage deals (pre-seed–Series A).
• Lead student investing teams in due diligence and teach analytical frameworks such as market sizing, impact analysis, financial modeling, and market research.
• Create, contribute to, and lead recruitment activities and training sessions for new student interns and Sorenson Impact Institute events.
• Identify, maintain, and prioritize a pipeline of early-stage venture investment opportunities.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence and investment analysis on potential opportunities.
• Oversee preparation and presentation of investment materials to Investment Committees, editing student scripts and presentations.
• Build and maintain a network with investment professionals to source high-quality deal flow as needed.
