Job summary

Intentional Philanthropy is seeking an Associate to support bookkeeping, foundation operations, and grants administration for a portfolio of foundations. You will work closely with the Senior Director, Foundation Management, and the Director of Finance in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes accuracy, proactive communication, and opportunities to learn nonprofit accounting and grantmaking software while collaborating with staff and trustees.

Qualifications

• Strict attention to details and deadlines with a proactive work ethic.
• Ability to follow through on assigned projects.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
• Impeccable professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Bachelor’s Degree with accounting coursework and/or relevant experience in finance or accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly finance and management reports for clients.
• Assist with ad hoc analysis and projects to drive business decisions.
• Record payments into QuickBooks and track receipts for expenses.
• Record invoices and print/mail checks; ensure supporting documents exist.
• Serve as primary contact for accounts payable inquiries and issues.
• Identify and implement process improvements with the Director of Finance.
• Support foundation operations, policies, and grantmaking processes.
• Handle correspondence with trustees, applicants, and grantees regarding guidelines.
