The State of Maine is seeking an Eligibility Specialist II in Lewiston to connect residents with MaineCare, SNAP, and TANF programs. The role involves determining complex eligibility, using multiple systems, and communicating rules clearly to applicants.

Partial telework is allowed with management approval, and the position may require in-person interaction. Minimum qualifications include a 4-year combination of education/experience or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Four-year combination of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience in a social services setting demonstrating interviewing and data gathering skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate information and apply program standards to determine eligibility, often for multiple programs.
• Use multiple technology systems to enter, review, and verify eligibility data and documentation.
• Explain program rules and decisions to applicants and recipients in writing, over the phone, and in person.
• Gather evidence, develop reports, and represent the Department at hearings.
