Job summary

Starr Specialty Lines Insurance Agency, LLC is seeking a Builders Risk Underwriting Assistant to provide administrative and underwriting support from submission through issuance. You will collect documentation, enter data, prepare quotes and endorsements, and coordinate with agents and internal teams to ensure timely processing.

The role requires a high school diploma, preferably an associate's or bachelor's in a related field, and 1–2 years of insurance or admin experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in insurance or administrative support, preferably underwriting or builders risk.
• Familiarity with insurance terminology, concepts, and processes preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriters by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing submission documentation.
• Enter and maintain accurate data in underwriting systems and databases.
• Prepare quotes, binders, endorsements, declinations, and other correspondence.
• Communicate with agents, brokers, and internal departments to obtain missing information.
• Support the preparation and issuance of policies, renewals, and endorsements.
• Monitor outstanding subjectivities and deadlines for submissions and renewals.
• Run preliminary risk reports (loss runs, ISO reports, credit checks) as requested.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in preparing reports and data for team meetings.
• Provide general administrative support and scheduling.
