Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to strengthen our financial operations in the Philadelphia area. The role supports monthly closes, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit readiness for a nonprofit organization.

You will lead accounting processes, ensure GAAP compliance, and collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and external auditors to safeguard financial integrity and support community programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with monthly close and financial reporting.
• Supervisory or team-lead experience preferred; strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.
• Experience with annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly accounting close, journal entries, reconciliations, and close calendar.
• Maintain chart of accounts aligned with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and management analyses.
• Support audits, regulatory filings, and tax reporting incl. Form 990.
• Guide accounting staff and promote policy consistency and confidentiality.
