Job summary

SPJA is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting functions and manage the accounting team, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial reporting. You will work closely with the Senior VP of Accounting and Finance, with potential growth opportunities within the department and organization.

Responsibilities include month-/quarter-/year-end closes, budgeting, and regulatory reporting, plus oversight of convention finances. Strong Excel and QuickBooks skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing accounting functions.
• GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Ability to supervise accounting staff and coordinate with executives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the accounting functions and assure accuracy.
• Supervise the accounting supervisor/manager and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Analyze financial records and provide recommendations on health and business strategy.
• Collaborate with the Senior VP of Accounting and Finance; growth opportunities exist.
• Prepare month-, quarter-, and year-end financial statements per GAAP.
• Review closing journal entries and maintain reconciliations.
• Conduct budgeting and reforecasts; analyze GL accounts and budget-to-actuals.
• Ensure compliance with taxes, regulatory reports, and audits.
• Oversee convention financials and offsite event finances.
• Maintain advanced Excel usage; QuickBooks proficiency.
