Job summary

University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking a laboratory professional to assist with the launch and daily operation of the Saddawi Laboratory. You will perform established experimental procedures and help with organization, safety, purchasing, and inventory management.

The role also involves animal-colony support, documentation, and training assistance, under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge in biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or cancer biology or related field.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with sterile technique and relevant cellular, molecular, tissue, microscopy, or animal-research methods.
• Ability to follow and document research protocols, organize work, manage competing priorities, and maintain records.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills working with diverse teams.
• Willingness to learn new methods, take feedback, troubleshoot with guidance, and contribute to a collaborative lab culture.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, biosafety, animal-research, and human-biospecimen requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch and daily operation of the Saddawi Laboratory and perform established experimental procedures.
• Handle laboratory organization, safety coordination, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Provide animal-colony support, documentation and training assistance.
• Collaborate with PI and team to ensure compliance and smooth workflow.
