UC San Diego Health’s Otolaryngology department seeks a Research Assistant to support the Saddawi Laboratory launch and ongoing operations. The role combines hands-on experiments with laboratory organization, safety coordination, and inventory management in a dynamic tumor-immunology program focused on head and neck cancer.

The incumbent will perform established lab procedures, manage documentation, and contribute to training while collaborating with a diverse team of researchers and clinicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with sterile techniques and relevant cellular/molecular methods.
• Ability to follow research protocols and maintain accurate records.
• Strong written and verbal communication within diverse teams.
• Willingness to learn new methods and troubleshoot under guidance.
• Knowledge of biosafety, animal research, and human biospecimen requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch and daily operation of the Saddawi Laboratory.
• Perform established experimental procedures.
• Assist with lab organization, safety coordination, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Provide animal-colony support and documentation; assist with training.
