Michigan Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant or Laboratory Specialist for a laboratory at the VA Medical Center Research Building. You will engage in immunology/cell biology research, handling mice, isolating cells, and performing molecular assays.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in health or biological sciences with 0–1 year experience. Opportunities include data management and independent project support in a dynamic academic lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health or biological science disciplines is required or encouraged for pre-PhD/pre-medical tracks.
• 0-1 year of relevant research experience or training.
• General understanding of molecular biology, protein chemistry, immunology, and cell biology.
• Familiarity with basic lab equipment and sterile technique.
• Experience handling mice and basic cell culture is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Initiate and perform experimental procedures in immunology/cell biology.
• Infect animals (mice) with microbes and dissect organs/tissues.
• Isolate cell populations from mice and perform flow cytometry staining and data acquisition.
• Isolate RNA for RT-PCR and perform routine bioassays (ELISA, RT-PCR, CFU).
• Record data in notebooks and spreadsheets; assist in data analysis and troubleshooting.
