Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is seeking an Epidemiologist III in Austin, TX, within the Immunization Unit. The role leads immunization epidemiology analyses, coordinates with state and federal partners, and communicates findings to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities include leading the immunization team, performing complex epidemiologic analyses, and guiding program evaluation while engaging with stakeholders and presenting data to public health professionals and the public.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with focus in epidemiology or biostatistics and 2+ years of epidemiology work in a public health agency.
• Undergraduate degree in public health, biostatistics, or biological sciences with 4+ years of epidemiology/infectious disease investigation work in a public health agency.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy.
• Epidemiology team lead: initiates analysis and directs team activities.
• Program evaluation: analyzes data, outcomes, and funding allocation.
• Oral and written communications: serves as subject matter expert and prepares information for dissemination.
• Program planning: assists in establishing priorities and coordinates with other units.
