International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) offers a remote internship for US JD students with its U.S. Legal Services Department, with an option to work from IRAP’s New York City office.

The program requires a 10-week full-time commitment, beginning June 7, 2027, and offers hands-on experience in refugee processing, immigration law, and human rights. Strong research and writing skills are essential, and fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be a rising 2L or 3L enrolled in a US JD program.
• Excellent English communication skills required.
• Ability to speak Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Somali, Pashto, Kurdish, or Spanish is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Draft memos and briefs; conduct fact-finding and client interviews.
• Conduct intake interviews and identify client needs for direct services.
• Participate in remote legal clinics and special projects.
• Create legal information materials and public education content.
• Draft and update practitioner guides and analyze changes in law.
