Job summary

Design and Production Inc. in Virginia is seeking a Lead AV Technician to lead a crew in designing and installing custom audio-visual experiences for museums and high-profile institutions nationwide.

You will fabricate on the shop floor, install on-site, troubleshoot across AV/IT/electrical/mechanical systems, and mentor junior technicians. Strong communication, CAD/Visio basics, and certifications like CTS/OSHA are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and ability to discuss tech with teammates and clients.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, basic IT, and PC hardware.
• Experience with project coordination and working from construction drawings.
• Ability to work at heights (up to 35 ft) and lift up to 75 lbs; OSHA awareness.
• Documentation and as-built record-keeping skills.
• CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D or OSHA certifications preferred.
• Experience with Medialon, AMX, Extron, Crestron, Brightsign, or Pandora’s Box is a plus.
• Programming skills in Java, Python, or C+.
• Familiarity with QSC, Cisco, Juniper, ZeeVee, PLCs, and Ladder Logic.

Responsibilities

• Rolling up your sleeves for hands-on fabrication and installation of complex AV systems.
• Leading your crew through shop builds and on-site installs — from Lorton, VA to museum destinations nationwide.
• Mounting monitors, projectors, speakers — all the tech magic that makes exhibits sing.
• Troubleshooting like a champ across AV/IT/electrical/mechanical systems.
• Translating blueprints and schematics into jaw-dropping real-world displays.
• Keeping the team on track, gear in check, and deadlines on point.
• Guiding and mentoring junior techs.
• Ability to maintain records and drawings for As-Built Documentation.
• Self-manage time and deadlines.
