Job summary

McWane Science Center is seeking a part-time IMAX Theater Associate to support daily operations in concessions and theater host areas in Birmingham, AL. The role offers up to 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling, including nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities include welcoming visitors, performing safety checks, maintaining stock and cleanliness, processing cash/credit transactions, and assisting with evacuations and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Ability to communicate with various groups and ages.
• Flexible schedule including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Six months of cash handling experience.
• Minimum 18 years of age and food safety certification due within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors warmly and answer questions.
• Perform safety and cleaning inspections at shift start and end.
• Keep concessions stocked and clean per Health Dept standards.
• Process cash and credit card transactions; balance drawer.
• Assist in emergency evacuations when needed.
• Help with housekeeping of IMAX Theater and concessions areas.

Job description

Come join our IMAX Theater team! The part-time IMAX Theater Associate is responsible for supporting the daily operations and guest service within McWane Science Centers concessions and theater host areas.

This position will generally be scheduled for up to 25 hours per week.

Accountabilities and Major Duties

• Welcome and greet each visitor with enthusiasm. Answer visitor questions in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Run all safety and cleaning inspections at concessions according to established procedures at the beginning and end of each shift. Report any problems or concerns to your supervisor.
• Ensure that the concessions area is well-stocked and cleaned appropriately per Health Department standards at the end of each shift. Communicate with department head any items that need to be ordered or repaired.
• Accurately process cash and credit card transactions in a timely manner. Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
• Follow established procedures for emergency evacuation in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist in the general housekeeping of all areas of the IMAX Theater and concessions area.

Minimum Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Ability to effectively communicate with various groups and age levels.
• Ability to work with a variety of people including visitors, staff, volunteers and service personnel.
• Flexible schedule including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Six (6) months of cash handling experience.
• Ability to properly count down and balance a cash drawer in a timely manner.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Possess non-expired national or county issued food safety certification or obtain no later than 30 days of hire date.

Minimum Physical Qualifications

• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
• Hearing/visual acuity.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders.
• Ability to bend at the waist.
• Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50lbs.
• Ability to pull and push heavy doors.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to use a computer.
