Job summary

McWane Science Center is seeking a Building Maintenance team member to ensure the safety, security and upkeep of our facility and guests. Responsibilities include daily preventive maintenance, event setup and teardown, and handling incoming shipments, while supporting all departments as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and experience with plumbing, painting, drywall repair, minor electrical and HVAC.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of experience requiring good judgment and responsibility for individuals and property.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Experience in plumbing, painting, drywall repair, minor electrical and minor HVAC.
• CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified.
• Must be dependable and able to work flexible hours including nights and holidays; weekend work required.
• Must have a valid driver license and provide proof of minimum liability insurance as required by state law.
• Honesty and integrity.
• Organized and efficient work habits.
• Effective interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Come join our team! The 40-hour per week **Building Maintenance** team member is r
esponsible for the repair, security, safety and support of McWane Science Center's personnel, guests, structures and properties. Responsibilities include daily preventive maintenance and upkeep of the entire facility and property; set-up and break-down of tables, chairs, etc. for events and reserved lunches; handling incoming shipments of materials/packages; facilitating safety and evacuation procedures; and assisting all other departments as needed.
Position will generally be scheduled Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30AM until 3:30PM.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in a situation requiring good judgment and the exercise of responsibility for individuals and property.
General mechanical aptitude.
Experience in plumbing, painting, dry wall repair, minor electrical and minor HVAC.
CPR certified or willing/able to become CPR certified.
Must be dependable and able to work flexible hours including nights and holidays. This position requires weekend work.
Must possess a valid Driver License subject to acceptable annual motor vehicle reports. Must provide verification of valid minimum liability insurance as required by State law.

Minimum Physical Qualifications

• Ability to lift and move materials, furniture, equipment, and supplies weighing up to **50 lbs.**, and push or pull up to **75 lbs.** of force.
• Ability to **stand, walk, climb stairs, ladders (8-10 feet), catwalks, and access all areas of the facility** for extended periods, including working in confined spaces and operating lifts when necessary.
• Ability to **respond effectively to emergencies**, assess situations quickly, exercise sound judgment, and operate safety and building systems, including alarms, circuit breakers, fire extinguishers, and communication equipment.
• Ability to **operate and maintain cleaning equipment, hand tools, power tools, and motor vehicles**, and perform general maintenance tasks.
• Ability to **communicate clearly** in person and through radios and public address systems.
• Ability to **read and understand safety information**, including OSHA Safety Data Sheets, product labels, and operating instructions.
• Ability to work safely while wearing required **personal protective equipment (PPE)** and tolerate exposure to moderate physical demands, including noise, chemicals, fumes, and vapors.
