Job summary

Beyond New Horizons is seeking an ID&C Imaging System Engineer to lead high‑speed optical systems at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. You will design, install, align, calibrate, and maintain advanced imaging assets for transient test events and data-driven analysis.

The role requires 5+ years in high‑speed imaging design and 8+ years in leadership, with US citizenship and security clearance eligibility. Occasional after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Optical/related field from an accredited university.
• 5+ years designing high-speed optical diagnostic systems in aerospace or industry.
• 8+ years leadership in optical engineering and cross-functional projects.
• US Citizenship required and able to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Sustain, calibrate and upgrade ultra-high-speed imaging cameras and IR cameras.
• Lead optical alignment, laser safety, and camera synchronization up to 10,000 fps.
• Design Schlieren paths, PSI sensors, and multispectral diagnostic setups.
• Manage large video datasets and extract quantitative metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan costs and schedules.
• Uphold safety protocols for laser and high-voltage equipment.
