Job summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is seeking an ID&C Imaging System Engineer to support the TOS II contract at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. You will lead design, installation, integration, calibration, and maintenance of high-speed optical and IR imaging systems used to capture transient test events.

The role requires advanced programming and testing skills, experience with high-speed cameras (Phantom, Photron), Schlieren and multispectral optics, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• L08: a minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in design, development, and operation of high-speed optical diagnostic systems.
• L09: a minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience with demonstrated technical leadership in high-speed optical engineering and instrumentation design.
• U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Sustain and optimize imaging systems, calibrate and upgrade ultra-high-speed imaging cameras and IR cameras in harsh test environments.
• Lead diagnostic setup, optical alignment, laser safety coordination, and camera synchronization at high frame rates.
• Design and integrate advanced optical paths including Schlieren systems and multispectral setups.
• Coordinate ingestion, analysis, reduction, and archiving of large video datasets with image processing tools.
• Collaborate with ID&C Branch, test operations, facility engineers, and government representatives to plan projects.
• Uphold rigorous safety protocols for laser, high-voltage, and industrial test environments.
• Draft technical reports, SOPs, electrical schematics, and checklists for contractual deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to upgrade capabilities and automate image analysis pipelines.
