Job summary

IU Health is seeking a full-time Imaging Services Assistant to support the Imaging Services department during off-hours and weekends. The role involves both clinical and administrative duties to ensure a positive patient experience and efficient workflow.

Under supervision, you will perform clerical tasks, assist with patient care, and help with imaging exams. A High School Diploma/GED is required, with 0-3 years of experience; Basic Life Support may be required in some locations.

Qualifications

• Medical Terminology preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• May require Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clerical tasks (scheduling/registration, patient screening, reception, release of information, inventory).
• Provide patient care tasks as needed (transporting/transferring, preparing for procedures, patient prep, IV access).
• Explain exams and preps to patients; assist with minimally invasive procedures as approved by leadership.

Schedule

• 1.0 FTE
• Wednesday & Friday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
• Saturday & Sunday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
• No call requirements

Position Overview

This role supports the Imaging Services department during off-hours and weekend operations by assisting with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The selected candidate will play an important role in ensuring a positive patient experience while helping the department maintain efficient workflow and patient throughput.

Job Duties, Tasks and Qualifications:

Works under the supervision of a radiologist, technologist, or radiology nurse. Performs clerical and/or patient care duties necessary to assist in performing imaging exams. Clerical duties may include, but are not limited to patient scheduling & registration, patient screening, reception, release of information, and maintaining inventory. Patient care duties may include, but are not limited to transporting and transferring patients, preparing patients for procedures, discussing exams and preps with patients, starting IV access lines, and assisting with minimally invasive procedures as approved by regional leadership and with documentation of training and competency. All other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 0-3 years of experience.

• Experience in a hospital or medical environment, preferred.
• Customer service experience, preferred.
• May require Basic Life Support certification.
