Job description

Overview

Imaging Electronics Technician - Midland, Saginaw, Alma at MyMichigan Health. This position provides specialized repair and preventative maintenance services to general diagnostic imaging equipment and biomedical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Performs timely repair and maintenance primarily on general imaging equipment, including software and networking troubleshooting and configuration of clinical diagnostic systems. (35%)
  • Performs timely electrical safety, performance testing and preventative maintenance on general medical, radiology and/or imaging equipment. Tests verify compliance with MyMichigan Health, MDCIS, and Joint Commission guidelines. (35%)
  • Provides and maintains documentation and record keeping on medical, radiology, and/or imaging equipment inventory, including purchase, warranty and contract information, performance and safety testing, service history, work orders, and parts inventory. (20%)
  • Acquires parts and supplies necessary for the most cost effective maintenance of medical imaging equipment. (10%)
  • Other duties and responsibilities: utilizes training opportunities to reduce contract dependency for general imaging equipment; provides service cost history to the System Manager; on-call coverage on a rotating basis; evaluates equipment requirements; verifies or develops PM procedures meeting manufacturer or regulatory specifications; participates in continuing education and training; cross trains other technicians; assists Biomedical Technicians and Specialists as needed; performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or System Manager.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent experience as specified (e.g., Associate of Applied Science in Biomedical Electronics, Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering Technology, or related electronics field with chemistry/biology coursework). Military hospital experience may be considered; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and skills: Certified in understanding DICOM standards, imaging technology, Radiology equipment service and vendor techniques preferred; OEM training and certification in at least two modalities preferred; 1-8 years radiology/imaging equipment service experience preferred; Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred; troubleshooting and technical skills from entry to intermediate level in medical and imaging equipment repair, PM, safety tests, calibration, and record keeping.
  • Other: Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse individuals; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Exposure to stressful situations and to potentially infectious materials; must follow bloodborne pathogen and TB testing requirements.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and to move about the facility with or without assistive devices; sufficient vision and hearing; ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods; ability to perform frequent postural changes (stooping, kneeling, crouching).
  • Dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and similar tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain regular attendance; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; maintenance of physical demands at medium level.

  • Certification/credential: DMV record check; other credentialing as required.
  • Must demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows and participate in ongoing learning opportunities as offered by the health system.
