Job summary

MyMichigan Health seeks a dedicated imaging support role to augment both technical and nursing staff around imaging procedures. Under supervision, you will assist with patient care related to procedure room turnaround and department workflow, including transporting patients and helping with IV setup when needed.

Responsibilities include staging patients, moving them to the imaging room, assisting during procedures, and preparing rooms for subsequent cases.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and time management are required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a clinical setting.
  • I.V. setup skills preferred.
  • TB testing and OSHA training as per policy.
  • BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Stage patients for imaging procedures: greet, assist with gowning and documentation, start IV when necessary.
  • Transport patient to imaging room and assist during procedure.
  • After procedure, move patient to staging area, discontinue IV, document information in RIS, prep room for next case.

The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to procedure room turn around and department workflow. Duties include: Transporting patients to and from department, safely getting patients on and off imaging equipment, starting with discontinuing I.V. (used during imaging procedures), assist with interventional procedures, ordering and maintaining room stock, and other support duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • (25%) Stage patients for imaging procedures: Greet patients, if necessary have patient change into hospital gown, complete any clinical documentation, start IV when necessary.
  • (25%) Transport patient to imaging procedure room and position on table, assist with patient during procedure as necessary.
  • (25%) On completion of procedure, move patient to staging area, discontinue I.V., and document any necessary clinical information in Radiology Information System. Assist in preparing imaging procedure room for next case by cleaning, changing linen, and returning moveable equipment to proper storage location.
  • (25%) Assist nursing and technical staff during invasive procedures.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
  • Transport patients to and from imaging department.
  • Schedule MRI appointments as needed.

Certifications and Licensures
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
Required Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
Equivalent Experience
  • One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is required. Three to four years experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Experience, Training And Skills
  • One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and time management skills required.
  • Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing as required Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. I.V. set up skills preferred.
  • Three to four years experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • College medical terminology course preferred.
Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
