MyMichigan Health is seeking a patient support specialist to augment clinical staff around imaging procedures. You will transport patients, assist with positioning, IV management, and help prepare procedure rooms. Responsibilities include stocking, cleaning, and supporting the team before and after procedures.
Requirements include 1–2 years in a clinical setting, a High School diploma or GED, and certification readiness (BLS/OSHA). Strong communication and time-management skills are essential.
The purpose of this position is to augment both technical and nursing staff in and around imaging procedures. These duties will be under direct oversight by technical and nursing personnel. The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to procedure room turn around and department workflow. Duties include: Transporting patients to and from department, safely getting patients on and off imaging equipment, starting with discontinuing I.V. (used during imaging procedures), assist with interventional procedures, ordering and maintaining room stock, and other support duties as needed.
Required: BLS: Basic Life Support
Equivalent Experience: Within 1 month of hire or transfer
Required:FINGERPRIN: Fingerprinting
High School Diploma or GED
Equivalent Experience:I.V. set up skills preferred. Three to four years' experience in a clinical setting is preferred. College medical terminology course preferred.
One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is required.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and time management skills required.
Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
