Togetherhood in the Washington, DC area is seeking energetic instructors to teach Illustration (Comics & Manga) to K‑12 students at schools and community sites. Teaching terms range from 6 to 18 weeks, with a focus on developing age‑appropriate, hands‑on projects in a supportive classroom.

Pay is $90–$120 per hour, with classes paid per session or per student under a contracted 1099 arrangement. A separate materials budget supports engaging lessons and innovative activities.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach Illustration (specifically Comics and Manga) for K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Wash DC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

As an after school instructor, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

• Develop age-appropriate Creative Arts/Crafts curriculum for after‑school students (Comics, Webcomics, Manga)
• Lead weekly in‑person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
• Establish a well‑structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged

Who You Are

A fun, enthusiastic, adaptable instructor, with experience teaching school age children, and who:

$90 - $120 an hour

Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class, either flat rate or per‑student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted, supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.

What to Expect

• If your resume is a fit, we’ll reach out to set up a screening call on Google Meet
• Candidates advancing from screenings will have a second video interview, in which we will ask you to share a sample lesson plan
• The final step of the process is onboarding into our platform, ready to accept classes!
