Togetherhood seeks dynamic instructors to teach Creative Arts and Crafts to K-12 students in Washington, DC, across schools and community venues. Teaching terms range from 6 weeks to 18 weeks, with per-class or per-student compensation.

What You'll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach Creative Arts and Crafts to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Wash DC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

As an after school instructor, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop age-appropriate Creative Arts/Crafts curriculum for after-school students (we have Sewing, Painting, Crafting, Pottery, Embroidery, Illustration, and many more courses!)
  • Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
  • Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged

Who You Are

A fun, enthusiastic, adaptable instructor, with experience teaching school age children, and who:

  • Has subject matter expertise in Creative Arts
  • Has a passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids
  • Has excitement, joy, and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning
  • Knows how to create a fun, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
  • Is cooperative, supportive, flexible
  • Is dependable, proactive, and thrives when given autonomy … and also appreciates support and clear expectations

Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class, either flat rate or per-student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted, supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.
