Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly skilled engineer to design, develop, and deploy Ignition SCADA systems for manufacturing hardware. You will integrate PLCs, HMIs, databases, and other controls, while collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to define requirements.

The role requires strong background in machine automation, manufacturing processes, and programming in Python/Java/Ladder Logic, with proven project management skills and onsite availability in Asheville, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent plus 5+ years of experience.
• Advanced degree with 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience developing and integrating Ignition SCADA systems.
• Strong controls hardware engineering including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and networks.
• Proven machine automation experience in manufacturing and process optimization.
• Proficient in Python, Java, and Ladder Logic; strong project management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy complex Ignition SCADA systems for manufacture of hardware.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing engineering, Material handling, Quality and Operations to define requirements.
• Integrate Ignition with PLCs, HMIs, databases, and other control systems in manufacturing.
• Configure Ignition software, including scripts and templates.
• Design and implement control systems, including PLC programming, hardware selection, and network config.
• Develop and test software solutions for manufacturing processes with reliable communication.
• Design, develop, and optimize machine automation solutions for manufacturing.
• Partner with Operations, Quality, Materials and Engineering to troubleshoot automation issues.
• Analyze processes and identify automation opportunities across teams.
• Ensure automation solutions comply with safety standards and best practices.
• Manage project timelines and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
