Job summary

Pratt & Whitney seeks an experienced automation engineer to design, develop, and deploy Ignition SCADA systems for hardware manufacturing. You will work with cross‑functional teams to define requirements and integrate Ignition with PLCs, HMIs, databases and other control systems.

Responsibilities include configuring Ignition, developing scripts, and designing control systems while ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Extensive experience in developing and integrating Ignition SCADA systems.
Strong expertise in controls hardware engineering, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial networking.
Proven experience in machine automation within a manufacturing environment.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and process optimization.
Proficiency in programming languages used in automation and control systems (e.g., Python, Java, Ladder Logic).
Strong project management skills with a track record of leading successful automation projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy Ignition SCADA systems for hardware manufacturing.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Material Handling, Quality, and Operations to define requirements.
Integrate Ignition with PLCs, HMIs, databases, and other control systems.
Configure Ignition software to meet project requirements, including scripts and templates.
Design and implement control systems, including PLC programming, hardware selection, and network configuration.
Develop and test software solutions for manufacturing processes ensuring seamless communication and control.
Design, develop, and optimize machine automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with new product implementation, automation systems, and controls hardware.
Analyze processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
Ensure automation solutions comply with safety standards and best practices.
