Job summary

Baltimore County Public Schools seeks an experienced Special Education Compliance Leader to ensure IEP processes align with COMAR, IDEA, and BCPS standards. You will organize IEP meetings, monitor files, provide staff development, and collaborate with the Department of Special Education to supply requested data.

You will work with multiple schools to improve timelines, accuracy of paperwork, and family engagement while guiding teams through federal and state requirements and BCPS procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
• Three years of successful teaching experience in special education.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage the IEP process, ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations and procedures.
• Collect data on processes and timelines to report to the Building Principal, and/or Department of Special Education.
• Facilitate IEP meetings, promoting active engagement and ensuring all documents are completed within timelines.
• Develop and monitor a special education management plan for communicating paperwork timelines and meetings to parents and staff.
• Provide technical assistance and professional development on the IEP process and BCPS procedures.
• Review IEP paperwork to proactively address compliance errors.
• Promote family engagement and collaboration among IEP team members to develop appropriate IEPs.
• Coordinate for assigned schools, compliance review activities as part of monitoring processes.
• Attend chair training and other professional development mandated by DSE/Compliance Office.
