Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools seeks a CFT coordinator for special education compliance to lead and coordinate efforts under the Department of Special Education Compliance. You will support implementation of IDEA, Section 504, and COMAR, coordinating with schools, families, and central offices to ensure timely and compliant IEPs and 504 plans.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations, including IDEA, Section 504, and COMAR.
• Experience with evaluation, eligibility, service delivery, timelines, and documentation in school-based settings.
• Ability to support investigation and response to complaints and assist schools in resolving concerns in alignment with legal requirements.
• Ability to support and prepare school-based staff for mediations, administrative reviews, and other compliance processes.
• Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data to support compliance monitoring and problem-solving at school and cluster level.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills for coordinating with admins, educators, related service providers, families, and central office staff.
• Ability to provide professional learning and technical assistance to school-based staff on compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with MCAAP/MCBOA leadership standards and the supporting services PGS; strong writing and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate case management and facilitate problem-solving processes to support timely services for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with administrators, educators, related service providers, families, and central office staff to ensure compliant IEPs and 504 plans.
• Participate in IEP meetings, administrative reviews, and structured problem-solving processes to address concerns.
• Provide ongoing technical assistance to schools and support compliance-related activities; assist with complaint responses.
• Promote proactive practices to prevent disputes and strengthen compliance at cluster and school levels.
