Job summary

University of Nebraska System seeks an IAM specialist to assist in developing and implementing the identity management infrastructure. The role includes application integration and IAM initiatives to enhance IT security across campuses.

You will provide development, integration, and consultation on IAM technologies, ensuring secure access and data integrity while collaborating across teams and documenting processes.

Qualifications

  • Two years post-secondary coursework.
  • 2 years experience in computer software and systems configuration and administration.
  • Experience with scripting or software development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of advanced Internet protocols and component based technologies, such as web services and REST architectures, Java, HTML, XML.
  • Experience with directories (LDAP/Active Directory), web servers, and databases.
  • Strong development skills with version control, ticketing systems, peer code review, and team software development.
  • High degree of confidentiality and integrity.

Job description

Identity & Access Management (IAM) is a critical team within the Cybersecurity and Identity division of Information Technology Services. The services and work performed by this team establish a security foundation of who everyone is at the University of Nebraska and State College System, and what services and access they are entitled to.

This position plays a critical role on the IAM team, and is accountable for assisting in the development and implementation of the University of Nebraska's identity management infrastructure. Responsibilities include application integration and identity management technical initiatives that support and enhance the IT security of the campuses. In addition, this position will provide development, integration, and consultation advice to facilitate the appropriate use of IAM technologies to enhance and support the overall security of the university.

Required Qualifications:

Two years post-secondary coursework

2 years experience in computer software and systems configuration and administration

Demonstrated experience in scripting or software development

Strong development skills utilizing a variety of practices including: version control, ticketing systems, peer code review, and team software development

Equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns with practical experience in applying patterns into applications

Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Identity Management technologies, SailPoint Identity IQ, federated authentication and authorization protocols (SAML/OIDC/OAuth)

Familiarity with J2EE architectures, Tomcat web servers and Oracle databases in a highly available environment

Advanced development practices including Continuous Integration and Deployment, Git version control, Docker

Demonstrated experience as a software developer

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

This position is designated as an on-site role and is not eligible for an alternative worksite arrangement at the time of hire. Following successful completion of the initial probationary period and demonstration of satisfactory performance, employees in this position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to departmental needs and supervisory approval. Under the University of Nebraska Information Technology Services (NU ITS) hybrid work guidelines, eligible employees may work remotely up to two days per week and are required to work on-site a minimum of three days per week at one of the University of Nebraska campuses in Lincoln, Omaha or Kearney, NE.
